Biography

Harmonium accompaniment is a varied and complex affair.
Accompaniment as a ‘blotting paper’ is quite common these days. Accompaniment with valuable creative inputs as well as imagination and creativity with the speed and dexterity of the vocalist is a challenging feat which Seema does with fluency and mellifluousness thus making her accompaniment a treat and with a high degree of finesse.

This has been achieved through diligence, conscientiousness and focused sincerity making her the most sought after female accompanist on the harmonium. She represents the promise the future holds for Indian Classical Music making her the beacon of the younger generation.

Seema began learning harmonium at a very early age. Endowed with an acute interest in music, she started her initial training under the guidance of Shri Umesh Insulkar. Then came a period of several years during which she received extensive training under the able guidance of Pandit Tulsidas Borkar, recognized by many as a complete teacher and more so as an excellent Harmonist.

She also benefited from her association with the Late Shri Vishwanath Pendharkar, one of the most gifted and versatile teacher and performer.It was Guru Pandit Tulsidar Borkar who groomed her as an accompanist and it was Shri Pendharkar who taught her the subtle nuances of a solo performance. Seema is a graduate of the S.N.D.T. University.She, like her better half Vishwanath, is involved in performing and also takes time in grooming young artistes in Harmonium.

She has traveled extensively in India, USA, Canada, Europe and the Middle East having performed individually as well as with revered vocalist such as, Late Pandit C. R. Vyas, Gana Saraswati Padmavibhushan Smt. Kishori Amonkar, Sow. Padma Talwalkar, Arati Anklikar-Tikekar, Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande, Shubha Mudgal, Veena Sahasrabuddhe,Shruti Sadolikar as well as with Ustad Rashid Khan, Pandit Rajan & Sajan Mishra, Pandit Prabhakar Karekar and Sanjeev Abhyankar.
