Biography

Vishwanath was initiated into tabla by Shri Suryakant Naik and later on he received training from Pandit Vibhav Nageshkar. Subsequently, he was groomed by Pandit Suresh Talwalkar, the revered Tabla Guru and Maestro, who honed Vishwanath’s percussion talents richly. Pandit Nayan Ghosh a well known percussionist as well as an accomplished Sitar player also guided Vishwanath on the path of excellence in Tabla accompaniment and in solo performance. All the revered gurus have thus contributed in making Vishwanath a Tabla accompanying artiste of repute, an artiste of through knowledge, coupled with proficiency, at the same time being humble in approach and creative in performance. Thus his accompaniment on the Tabla, though appears to be subtle is very enriching and complex.

His knowledge of vocal music gives an added advantage and thus he has been recognized as one of the best accompanists of the younger generation.

Vishwanath is a graduate in Engineering but now is fully involved in performing and also takes time in grooming young artistes in Tabla. Vishwanath has to his credit an ‘A’ grade as a solo performer on the Tabla by the All India Radio. He has bagged a number of prizes and awards as a Tabla solo performer.
